Hi Everyone
Every year in May and July I have the birthdays of my 2 nieces, now this hasn't really caused me a problem in previous years, but now one of them is about to turn 14 (going on 24) with attitude!! Now I know it would be easier to buy a card, as at this age the card is purely the vehicle to carry the birthday money in. The routine is to rip open envelope, open card, count money (I need to make sure that there is just enough in it to avoid the scathing look of "is that all"?), discard said card.
Now I won't be beaten so have still decided to make a card, as that's what I have always done!!
I have used stamp set #5 designed by Olga Heldwein from AALL & Create for my card. The actual image only has one balloon so I have repeat stamped, coloured and cut out the additional balloons adding a piece of black cotton to each one (now that was a labour of love) .
Each one was added using 3D gel glue.
Background was created using a cloud mask I cut myself and distress ink with some distress paint splatters.
The girl and the clouds were also added using 3D glue gel which gives the card a lot of dimension.
Birthday sentiment is from Rubber Dance.
I'm tempted to put no money in the card as it might get looked at if I don't lol.
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by
Love
Amanda X
Its a fantastic fun image to use for this great teenagers card. I am smiling at your post and how its what may be inside that seems more important than the card.

Jeepers - that really is a labour of love - all those threads, each one individually attached. I think even a 14-year old will have some idea of the work and love and thought in that... and then turn to see what's inside, of course. Fabulous card!

A fabulous card Amanda and although what's inside is the main object of the game, I'm sure she like this card. The image is fabulous and lots of patience required for those balloons.

Not sure how I missed this one Amanda, saw it briefly on IG before I had to give ipad back yesterday. Had to come and see if you had blogged it and take a closer look. I LOVE this stamp set it has to be my fav of Olga's. I love those bright red loons.
ReplyDeleteI have lost count of the amount of times i've used this set. She's swung and hung, last one had 50 balloons on it!!
Fabulous card creation.. Thanks for sharing.

This is just too cool Amanda and spot on for a teenager with attitude ( got one too!!) WE were never like that were we ? lol .
ReplyDeleteLove how your s.o.h comes through in your art sometimes . Great use of the stamps and the balloon strings were well worth it - hope your niece thinks so too. x
