Easter Bunny says Hi

Hi Everyone

A big Happy Easter to you all from my Easter bunny. I have managed to grab a little time inbetween my current busy work schedule, to create another sewn character, this time a bunny. Made using random fabric scraps and trims, vintage buttons and combining machine stitching and hand sewing she stands 12" high and 6" wide.
I hope you like her.
Have a wonderful Easter Sunday

Red & Green should never be seen for That's Crafty Challenge Blog

Hi Everyone
Time for a new challenge fortnight at That's Crafty Challenges and our theme for the next 2 weeks is
"Red & Green should never be seen"
We would like to see any type of project that uses red and green as the dominant colours of your make.

I have gone with quite a simply made card to hopefully inspire you to come and play along with us. My background was made by applying several shades of green distress inks to an acrylic block, lightly misting with water and then pressing down onto a piece of water colour paper. I love that the top of the inky print looks like the sunlight is bursting through the trees, even though it was a fluke!
I have then stamped the birds on branches from Katzelkraft, repeat stamping just one of the birds. I punched a small heart from painted book paper and drew the string on so it could hang from the tree. The sentiment is from Tim Holtz hashtag stamp set. I drew lines around twice then mounted onto black card.
My Team mates have all made very different things using this fortnights colours so you will find more inspiration Here.
Don't forget that one lucky winner will win a £20 online voucher to spend in That's Crafty online store. Trust me you'll be stuck for choice.
Thanks for popping in and hopefully we'll all see you playing along with us.

Meet Mabel

Hi Everyone
One of my new years resolutions was to "get sewing" and I have been inspired by the fabulous sewn characters that are created by Junker Jane whose fabulous quirky creations can be found HERE. Whilst this is my first creation, and is by no means at the fabulous standard that Junker Jane produces, I am quite happy with how she turned out so I have named her Mabel.
So without further ado, meet Mabel!

Made using lots of bits of scrap materials and lots of swearing and more importantly lots of learning, mostly of how not to do something but I guess that's the learning process and it's good to learn.
My trusty vintage photo distress ink aged the finished piece up and copics added her cheeks.
Hope you like her it feels like I have created my first born lol!!!
I would like to enter this into Paperartsy Art Doll Challenge
Thanks for popping in

It's all about Vintage at Mixed Media World this month

Hi Everyone
Today is the start of a new challenge month over at Mixed Media World and our theme for the month is
VINTAGE.
I have chosen to use those colours that I associate with that vintage look and those are shades of brown rather than make a vintage looking piece as is with any challenge theme it's just down to how you interpret the theme.

I started with the large MDF piece from That's Crafty and covered it in a coat of dark brown Paperartsy Fresco paint. I then added stencilling using texture paste and when that was dry added the lighter shade of paint over the top. I then rubbed off some of the lighter shade to allow the brown to pop through giving a distressed look. I then punched some circles from printed tissue paper and added those edging them with a brown pitt artist pen which you can blend with. Word stencilling is added with Tim Holtz stencil.

I then finally stencilled on the Paperartsy Lin Brown stencil PS024 using crackle paste and when dry coloured with the pitt pen. A few glass drops that I had stuck to text paper and blue splashes finish the piece before finally adding my sentiment using Tim Holtz chit chat stickers.

Even in the finest of stalks you get a fabulous crackle look.

If you pop along HERE you can see the fabulous inspiration that has been made by the rest of the DT.
We would love to see your interpretation of our VINTAGE theme and one lucky winner will receive their choice of 3 images from the Etsy shop of our sponsor this month "Old Vintage Shop" (more details can be found on our challenge blog)
Can't wait to see what you make
Thanks for popping by

Happy Mothers Day

Hi everyone
Today for those mums in the Uk it is Mothers Day and I have a busy day ahead as I am hosting lunch for the Mums in my family, especially my own Mum whom I am going to spoil rotten.
I've had a couple of cards to make so for ease I've made them the same but a little different.

These cards feature, mostly, stamps and stencils by Designs by Ryn which I haven't inked up for ages.
I made my backgrounds by stenciling Finnabair heavy gesso through the hibiscus stencil and when dry colouring with distress ink, love how the gesso resists the ink. The other background was distress inks on the text from Tim Holtz classics #4 slightly misted and then stamped. I then combined the 2 for my background. Then stamping and cutting out the flowers which one set has been edged with distress ink and the othere coloured with Prismacolour pencils.

The trickles have had the colour lightened by removing some of the distress ink with a water brush and been highlighted with a white gel pen and I have added droplets of glossy accents to the flowers as water droplets.
Sentiment is one from my stash.
Thanks for stopping by and if you're a Mum I hope that you have a fabulous day and get spoilt something rotten.
See you soon

Stencils & Masks at That's Crafty Challenges

Hi everyone
It's the start of another new challenge fortnight over at That's Crafty Challenge Blog and also the chance to win a £20 voucher to spend in That's Crafty online store. All you have to do to be in with a chance to win the voucher is enter into our challenge. Our theme for the next fortnight is
STENCILS & MASKS.
As it's now spring (don't think the weather knows it's Spring) I have made a colourful, floral piece which is my little piece of Spring.

Apologies it's not the best of Photo's.
I started by using the largest MDF heart from the That's Crafty MDF range and covered it in a rough smearing of texture paste and crackle paste, you can just about see the crackles if you look hard enough!!. Onto that I applied a selection of distress crayons from the brights set smearing them with my fingers that I dampened from a baby wipe. I laid over Tim Holtz squares stencil and then removed some of the distress crayons with a baby wipe which left a nice grid effect.
I then stenciled onto the heart texture paste through the Stencil Girl Deconstructed Lily stencil. I had to let one flower dry before adding the other. I have then painted the flowers with Dina Wakley paints. The centre of the flowers have been made using Finnabair decorative stones that I just added to some gel medium and piled into the centre of the flowers. When they were dry I again painted with Dina's Paints. The fine black bits on the centre is lava gel a clear gel medium with the black bits in. The sentiment from my stash was heat embossed on. On reflection I am not sure that I should have done it in black?
We'd all love it if you joined in with us this fortnight, and you'll find all the details and some fabulous inspiration from the rest of the DT HERE.
Thanks for stopping by and hopefully see you playing along
