Sneak Peak for That's Crafty

Hi Everyone
and Phew!!!! how hot here in the UK at the moment, summer has arrived at last. As lovely as it is, it does render my craftroom a sauna as it is in the loft conversion and it is utterly unbearable to be in at the moment so not sure how much crafting will happen. I have managed to make my usual piece for my Tuesday slot over at That's Crafty blog and here's just a sneak peek

Use a Stencil at Less is More

Hi Everyone
Just a quick post this morning before I go into work. This week at Less is More the theme for this week is use a stencil and leave lots of white space.

I have used a stencil as I stamp. I took the Mini Be in Love stencil by TCW and sprinkled on 3 colours of Bistre crystals and lightly misted with water. I then took a print of the stencil onto heavyweight white card. Sentiment is from Unity stamps.

Housey Housey for That's Crafty Challenges

Hi everyone
We start this Friday with a new challenge at That's Crafty Challenges and our theme for this fortnight is
"HOUSEY HOUSEY"

So we would like to see your home/houses themed projects. The DT have come up with a variety of house themed projects for inspiration and here's mine. I have gone with quite a clean and simple card this time.

My main image is from the Lynne Perrella collection for Paperartsy LPC015
Which I have stamped over a piece of mixed media card that I have made applying distress ink pads to an acrylic block, misting with water, then stamping onto the card.
The stamps on my background I wanted to have a much softer feel so have all be stamped using versa magic chalk ink pads and are all from Carabelle Studio.
The sentiment is from Art Impressions Girlfriends stamp set Weigh In.
We would love it if you popped over HERE and joined in with us this fortnight. As always one lucky winner will win £20 to spend online at That's Crafty where you will be stuck for choice with what to spend it on.
Thanks for stopping by
and see you soon

Masculine at Mixed Media World

Hi Everyone
Another month has gone by for us all at  Mixed Media World and we have had another fabulous response from you for our Vintage challenge and some really fabulous makes from everyone. It's now time to do it all again and our theme for this month is
"Masculine"
This months theme has been chosen by my fabulously talented team mate Donna and is just in time for Fathers day for those of us in the UK.

For my piece for this months challenge I have gone for a nautical theme by altering a rat trap into a memo holder, ideal for leaving that "Gone Fishing" note

First thing to do when altering a rat/mouse trap is to remove all the parts, I have to add at this point that removing them is a lot easier than putting the bits you need back on when it's finished!!
I then stenciled the word Remember (left)  and the chevrons (right) with modeling paste.
I then painted the trap using Fresco finish paints South Pacific, Bora Bora and Irish Cream.
I then stamped all my images and applied embossing powder and heat embossed. then applied to the trap with matt multi medium. once that was dry I gave the whole piece several washes of Fresco finish paint in French Roast which is great for added the aged look as this colour is translucent.
I added the fishing net which is a piece from a roll of bandage coloured with the same paints watered down.
I then aged a Tim Holtz word band and nautical charm from my stash with the same colours.
Some shells finish the piece off.
stencils used are Stencil Girl - Dube and Tim Holtz - chevrons
Stamps are all from Paperartsy sets HP1111 & HP1306.
we would all love to see your Manly makes so why not come and join in with us this month HERE, there is, as always, some fabulous inspiration from my team mates.
I would like to enter this into the following challenges:-
Craft Stamper - Textures
Anything but Cute - Masculine
welove2create - anything Mixed Media

This is my 2nd post of the day, my first is to celebrate 100 posts at FSC, to see all the details of that post and a chance to win my posted make you can find all the details HERE

So without further ado my make for this milestone challenge, which I will be sending out to one of you, randomly chosen, that leaves a comment.

For me Glitz and Glamour makes me think of Hollywood in the days when it was all just so much more glamorous. To represent this I have made a tag using one of the very first wooden stamps I ever bought, "Movie Stars" by Stampington. I have stamped in black and then cut th stamp up to look like 3 seperate old photographs colouring it with Spectrum Noir pencils.
Other stamps include film strip stamps from Carablle and lost coast, the stars and lighting strips, which I have addd pearls to to look like the bulbs, are from Artistic outpost "Picture Star"
I have stenciled the word Hollywood, using Andy Skinner's Route 66 Stencil, with Wendy Vecchi's black paste and then rubbed Pebeo gold gilding wax over it.
I hope you like it and if you would like to win it all you have to do is just leave me a comment.
I hope you will join in with us on our celebration challenge and follow our blog hop which from here starts with my talented team mate Yvonne just by clicking on her name above.

All That Glitters at That's Crafty Challenge Blog

Hi Everyone
Today is the start of another challenge fortnight at That's Crafty Challenge Blog
and our theme for the next 2 weeks is
"ALL THAT GLITTERS"

and I've got the glitter out!! I have added glitter the the edges of my stars, which I punched out from black card, and they are all wearing very sparkling swimsuits thanks to some diamond Stickles, unfortunately this is difficult to see on the photo.
I have used for the background some scarps of inked up card that I then cut into strips of different lengths. I then added some filmstrip washi tape.
The main Betty Grable image is from  Deep Red cling Stamps.
All other stamps are from Artistic Outposts "Picture Star" set.
So why not get your glittery bits out and come and join in with us all HERE
One lucky winner will win £20 to spend on fabulous things available from That's Crafty online store.
My team mates have come up with some fabulous inspiration so we all hope that you will join in with us in this fortnights challenge.

The Presence of Wonder

Hi Everyone
Having not got home from work till after 9pm what better way to unwind than a bit of a crafty session. I managed to get the finishing touches done to a piece I have been working on.
Using the backing card from a mixed media paper pad I decided to experiment with Gelatos, I've had some for ages but have never really used them, until now that is. This was only going to be an experimental piece but I quite like how it turned out.

As I said I started with the cardboard backing from a Strathmore mixed media pad and covered it with pieces of torn book pages and then I covered it in gesso. I then randomly drew all over it with Gelatos and sprayed on water using a large paintbrush and a piece of old natural sponge I moved the colour around until I was happy with the result.
Then came all the stamping, using:-
Carabelle Studio XXL stamp "Mecanique Steampunk"
Tim Holtz "Documented"
Stampendous are the circles
and the birds a partial stamping of a Katzelkrafts collage stamp.
Artistic Outpost "Think and Wonder" (Children)
I then stenciled the Donna Downey "Anemone Duo" Stencil with Wendy Vecchi black texture paste (I turned it into a poppy) and painted it with Paperartsy Fresco finish paint.
Sentiment is from Tim's Small Talk stickers book.

This was never intended to end up as a finished piece but I just kept going with it and ended up with a piece that I like, I love it when that happens.
I think I need to buy some more Gelatos now!!
Hope you like it
I would also like to enter this into the anything Mixed Media Challenge over at We love 2 Create
