By The Sea at That's Crafty Challenge blog

Hi Everyone
I hope that you've all had a fabulous week. Today we have the start of another new challenge fortnight over at That's Crafty Challenge Blog and our theme is

'By The Sea"

You can choose any sea or seaside related project.

I have chosen to go under the sea as my little piece of inspiration for you.

Background is splashes of aquatints and I have put some movement in by adding a piece of gauze that I have applied with matt medium and then coloured with distress crayons. I have then added circles using Seth Apter Robo ring die. I have added a little bubble stamping using one of the stamps from Leone Pujol Doodle drops set.
I have added some punched circles coming from the fish and added glossy accents to them.
Fish and sentiment is Carabelle Studio stamp 'Happy as a Fish'

I stamped the fish on a mop up piece of card and then just further coloured the tail with coloured pencils.
We would love it if you joined in with us this fortnight and you could be the winner of our usual prize of a £20 voucher to spend online at That's Crafty shop.
For more fabulous inspiration from the rest of the team just pop along HERE
Have a fabulous weekend and see you soon

Meet Quirky Cat

Hi Everyone
More sunshine!! anyone would think it was summer here in the UK!! Before I pop off out to take advantage of this lovely weather I would just like to share with you another of my sewn characters. This time I introduce Miss Quirky Cat.

Miss Quirky Cat was made as a birthday gift for my very special crafty friend Donna, sadly Quirky cat takes after me and didn't get there in time, but with apologies made she now resides down south!.

She has been made using a mixture of new and vintage fabrics, bits of old clothes and old buttons. Construction is a mixture of machine and hand sewing. She stands over 12" high.

I love the one blue eye she has, this is a very old button that I would have loved to have seen what that was originally sewn on (I have a few more of them left)

Vintage lace trim and some bits of Tim Holtz fabric. I have aged the fabric using a combination of fabric ink pads.

I know she is happy as here she is with her new and bestest pal

Have a fabulous Sunday and thanks for stopping by

Friday 13th Part 1 at That's Crafty Challenges

Hi Everyone
Are you superstitious? It's Friday13th today, a day when things can go terribly wrong!!

Friday 13th Part 1 is our theme at That's Crafty Challenge Blog for the next 2 weeks.

You can interpret this however you want, something scary as the film with the same name brought us or is it for you about superstitions, black cats, walking under ladders as is always with our challenge you are free to interpret the theme however or wherever your imagination takes you.
I have for my inspiration piece gone with the slightly scary, so without further ado I would like to introduce you to Vince, Voodoo Vince to give him his full name.

Vince stands about 9" high and has been made using calico which I stained with strongly brewed tea before sewing him. I draw the pattern out first and then cut the fabric out. He has been machine stitched and hand stitched together. His eye area has been stitched using free motion and his eyes are vintage buttons from my huge button collection. His mouth is some zip scraps and I have appliqued  on his his heart using the sewing machine.  My favourite part of him is his No. 13 medallion that hangs proudly around his neck. Of course no suitably dressed voodoo doll can be without his obligatory pins and he proudly sports 3 in his heart and 3 in his head.
The team have had some wonderful idea's for this fortnights theme which you can see HERE
We would love to see how you interpret this fortnights theme and if you enter our challenge you could be the lucky winner of £20 voucher to spend online at That's Crafty.

Thanks for visiting I really appreciate you stopping by

Rusty Flight for That's Crafty

Hi Everyone

I have a new favourite product that I am sharing with you on my weekly Tuesday make for That's Crafty Blog and that product is Finnabair rust pastes.

The torso has had a lovely treatment of the finnabair rust pastes over the stencilled grid pattern. To get the stencilling on to the torso I had to stencil the paste onto tissue paper first to allow me to cover such a curvy shape.

you can see the final effect better on the back of my mannequin

butterflies have been stamped and cut out on a prepared background.

The full details and what I used can be found HERE

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:-
Sandee and Amelie- Anything goes steampunk/industrial
and
Countryview Challenges- Use a stencil

Thanks for stopping by I really appreciate it.

Kaboom!!

Hi everyone
I hope you are all enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend. I wish I could say I was but I am working the entire weekend, ahh the joys of working in retail.
I've just managed a little play, my favourite way to relax, and I just wanted to share with you a card I've made using one of the fabulous images from the recently released set of stamps from Brett Weldele, this stamp is from the Jenny Sparrow set.

I wanted it to have a pop art feel so have stencilled the background using Tim Holtx dot fade stencil and black distress ink. I stamped my images first and masked them off prior to adding the stencilling.
All have been coloured using distress pens.

I want a mask like that!!!
Kaboom, lightning and star stamps are from Waltzingmouse stamps, who are sadly no longer trading, and the sentiment is from Dina Wakleys "Just what to say" set

Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by
