PaperArtsy - New Stamps by Alison Bomber

Hi Everyone

I am delighted to have been asked by Alison Bomber to be her 'Wingman' for this, her 3rd release of quote stamps for PaperArtsy and Alison has chosen another fabulous collection of quotes for her latest 3 sets of stamps. I have been lucky enough to be able to team these up with some of Tracey Scotts new January released stamps. I think this also shows how versatile Alison's choice of quotes are.
I'd like to share with you some sneak peeks but to see them all just pop over to the PaperArtsy Blog.

You can see all my projects in full over on the PaperArtsy Blog
If you haven't already been over to the PaperArtsy blog be sure to check out Alison's Launch post which my post follows. We both have very different styles which I think just endorses how versatile Alison's choice of quotes are.

My First Foray into Acrylic Pouring

Hi Everyone
Hope that you are having a lovely weekend. I am about to see the arrival of my family to celebrate my Mums birthday so before I start preparing everything for that I thought I would share with you my first attempts at acrylic poring.
I have long been an admirer of the effects achieved with this genre of art, it was time to have a go!!!
Please do not attempt this at home if you don't like mess, or maybe that was just me!!!!

I have watched loads of video's on YouTube so armed with that knowledge I set about my first canvas. At this point everything I thought I knew and understood just disappeared so I just ended up doing what I usually do when trying to learn something, I just went for it.
I prepared each acrylic paint colour I was using in a plastic shot glass by mixing the paint with acrylic flow medium, if there is a science to this it escaped me and I just mixed to a mixture I was happy with, I did this with each colour. I then to each colour added several drops of 100% silicone liquid, this is what creates the cells. I originally was going to do a dirty pour, adding all colours to one cup, but decided to add the paint one colour at a time and played with the swipe technique, lightly swiping the paint into each other. I then rolled the paint around the canvas and then added heat with my heatgun to increase the cell production.  I then stopped, which isn't easy to do lol.

Here you can see how the cells form, which I think looks fab!

I ended up not completely covering the sides as I would have lost the pattern on the canvas but I quite like the poured look on the edges. I need to try and understand how much paint I actually need for a project.
You can just see that I have knocked nails into the back of the canvas to keep the canvas off the surface, this will be removed when it's fully dried. I think that will take several days if not a week, I've just got to leave well alone.
I still have loads and loads to learn and I am sure this effect I have achieved is more look than technique but as a first attempt I am really pleased with it.

Soul Search

Hi Everyone
Hope your week is going well. I have a tag to share with you tonight that I finished a few days ago and have only just got a chance to share it with you. Since stepping down from my design team commitments this is another piece just for fun.

On a manila tag I think I have used brusho in grey (I have had the tag a while)
Onto that I stencilled crackle paste through the Visible image stencil - Stobes and left to dry. I then coloured with diluted black soot distress oxide.
I then added stamping
AALL & Create - Set 10 added the stamped numbers

the Oculus stamp from Rubber Moon was cut out and coloured and I have added glossy accents to the eye ball.

the words are from the latest release from France Papillon as one of the new sets part of the Illusionary Artists range along side Andy  Skinner.

Thanks for stopping by I really appreciate it.

A Little Bad Assy!

Hi Everyone
This card came about as I was sorting through my stencils and came across this Twiggy stencil that came many years ago from SplodgeAway who sadly don't seem to be around anymore. Using that and a background from my stash I just had a play.

I've also had the chance to use one of the sentiment stamps that was on the last subscription set from Art Chicks studio.
I stencilled Twiggy using archival ink onto the background then stencilled the outline onto a piece of copy paper to allow me to cut it out and use as a mask before I built up my background using stamps and stencils.
I heat embossed the sentiment in white, on reflection I think I should have done it in black.

And You Reckon...........

Hi Everyone
I hope you're having a lovely weekend. I have spent most of the weekend continuing with puppy training and having big adventures in the great outdoors. Actually those adventures were really standing in a muddy field absolutely frozen to the core trying to teach Halo, said puppy, to come back to me!! Thankfully she just followed Bruce, my other dog, everywhere and as he comes back so did Halo, so sort of a result. As Halo thinks chewing my crafty stash is really good fun I have only managed a quick card this weekend but it has given me the chance to ink up some of the monsters from another Katzelkraft stamp set that has been sitting waiting to be used from before Christmas.

Aren't those monsters fab?
I used Tonic Jigsaw die for the 3 pieces and then stamped and masked my monsters from Katzelkraft's 'Les Monstres des Carpates' set (available in the UK from That's Crafty HERE)
Coloured with coloured pencils and watercolour background.

The sentiment I stamped out using a little alphabet stamp set I have.
Aren't these monsters so fabulous?
Thanks for stopping by and see you soon

She Always Believed..........

Hi Everyone

I hope you all have a lovely weekend ahead planned, I'm not working this weekend and have absolutely nothing planned, bliss!!! I have recently got a new puppy and she isn't having any of this crafty business going on, it's not for creating art with it's for chewing......... I have been buying plastic boxes, like there is going to be a world shortage of them, just so I can get everything out of the way. Sadly I have failed............ I have however managed to make this small canvas but it was painful!!

Making this little canvas also allowed me to ink up, for the first time, this fabulous new stamp from Katzelkraft - Windy Day. The sentiment is from a Paperartsy stamp set.

Background of the canvas is just Decoart Phthalo turquoise heavily applied at one side and then misted with water so it runs over the remainder of the canvas.
Image was stamped, coloured with pencils and cut out, added to the canvas with matt gel grounding her on a piece of torn washi tape, the sentiment was added the same.

as I couldn't cut out the rain drops on the stamp I added the same look by flicking on some of the paint.

Hopefully I might get into my craftroom this weekend but I have a puppy ruling my world at the moment!

Meet Halo the puppy stealing my heart along with stealing my craft supplies!!

Have a great weekend and thanks, as always, for stopping by

Art is Life - Here's to 2018

Hi Everyone
I hope that you all had a fabulous Christmas and New Year and are looking forward to all that 2018 has on offer.
Like everyone I am looking forward to another creative year especially to see all the new products coming our way that we will all just need so much. Having said that I have many favourite stamps from days gone by and none more than 'Lonely Girl' by Dina Wakley, which started my Dina Wakley collection off. So I start the year using something old and have had a quick play creating a tag.

Quick background using Dina's paints watered down, Lonely Girl stamp and some from some of Dina's other stamp sets, the hearts I have machined stitched onto the tag.
My art is a big chunk of my life and remains my perfect way to unwind and that won't change for 2018 even though I might take it in new directions.
Here's to an arty filled year to you all
